Art I
"I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream." -Vincent Van Gogh
9/30/2016 0 Comments Boundaries SketchThis is my sketch for the boundaries project. I used Sharpies and colored pencils. The hands in the sketch represent my boundaries such as my home, myself, society, school, and limitations. The larger hand at the bottom of the picture represents a helping hand, erasing limitations and giving me freedom to express myself. This will be cut out of carboard, blown up to a larger proportion and painted on.

9/23/2016 1 Comment Line Composition Final ResultThis is the finished result of the line composition I started earlier this week. These are all the finished layers of Sharpie, water color, oil pastels, a photo transfer and spray paint. It shows emotions I have from the memory I chose to make this piece reflect. I am pleased with how it turned out and I learned how to use a lot of these mediums a lot better and learned a lot about how to express emotion through art. The photo transfer is a picture of Joni Earekson Tada, a woman that is paralyzed and still paints holding the brush in her mouth. She inspires me with her strength and motivation and it is amazing to me that she found a way to do what she loves despite her disability.
This is the composition when I first began to add water colors. I used a lot of blue and purple and spotted rubbing alcohol onto it to make different effects. I also blew paint across the paper with a straw. This is the composition after adding more water color, including yellow and pink and red for excitement and thrill. I also used some blue, green and red oil pastels closer to the outside corners.
9/16/2016 0 Comments Line CompositionThis is a line composition I made based on the memory of the trip I made to Kansas City with some friends this past summer. The lines and colors I used give the impression of happiness, love, excitement, adventure, thrill, and exploration.
I used pencil and colored Sharpies to create the lines. 9/16/2016 1 Comment Finished Group ProjectThis is the finished product of the group project I was working on with Kayden, Cameron, and Daniel. We used chalk pastels to add color to the shapes and body parts we had drawn onto the paper. On one end we used blues, purples and pinks to add a calmer effect and on the other side we used more bold and warmer colors. The picture is supposed to depict the conflicted feelings of love and hate, hot and cold, anger and calm.
Working in a group was more helpful to me than it was a hinderance because we all contributed ideas ad helped make the whole piece better. It also made everything go faster by working in a group and everyone had great input. 9/9/2016 1 Comment Group ProjectThis is the current progress of the group project I am working on with Kayden, Cameron and Daniel. We used our body parts and free-hand sketching abilities to draw different faces and shapes in pencil. The whole drawing is going to reflect conflicted emotions such as love, anger, mockery, desire and passion. We will incorporate those things using colors next week.
9/9/2016 2 Comments Composition PieceThis is a drawing I did of a long staircase leading up a hill. There are trees lining the top of the hill and a sunset in the background and at the very top of the stairs there are people kissing.
I made this piece to help me learn about the different composition tools and ways I can influence the viewer of my work. The composition tools I used are shapes and lines, color, and positioning. I drew it using black pen and colored pencils. The sky and clouds were done with both pastels and colored pencils. I am very pleased with how the sunset turned out and how all the colors go well together, but I am not pleased with how the grass is not shaded well and the stairs look slanted. Next time I will try to work a little slower and make sure to include the details I want. 9/9/2016 0 Comments Emotion CollageThis is a collage I made of pictures from magazines. The emotions I wanted to portray to the viewer are love, happiness, friendship and laughter.
I am pleased with how all the colors and patters go together, but I should have moved the pictures together so that the white underneath wasn't showing and everything "blended" together better. |
